Client Story
How PHM helped Hannah when a new cancer made treatment options more complicated.
Hannah, a vibrant mother of three, working professional and avid equestrienne, was diagnosed with cancer – a second time.
Her original diagnosis revealed lesions on her colon and liver. When her cancer re-emerged, it was in her ovaries and had spread to the lining of her abdominal cavity and spleen. Her condition had become more complex, and her treatment options brought new risks and benefits that she needed help understanding.
Hannah had colorectal cancer but the mutation driving tumor growth was associated with breast cancer, a rare, often overlooked distinction. Her PHM team used this insight to guide her treatment, presenting two options: aggressive surgery using heated chemotherapy or a clinical trial targeting unique cellular characteristics. Hannah elected the clinical trial and initially responded well, but then her disease began to progress.
PHM then characterized her tumor using comprehensive molecular profiling, including RNA analysis, and developed a personalized plan with cancer vaccines and peptide receptor radioligand therapy, a ground-breaking approach recently published in a study about the role of RNA in cancer.
Hannah wanted to blend Western and Eastern medicine to combat her disease and mitigate side effects. After a thorough review, PHM eliminated treatments without supporting evidence and shared well-researched treatment options like amino therapy and Vitamin D.
Hannah’s struggle with cancer is still very much a reality. But by harnessing the invaluable insights that came from her health data and taking into consideration her wishes to incorporate complementary and alternative medicine approaches, her PHM Personal Care Team was able to create safe, effective treatment plans specifically for her. That gave Hannah and her family confidence and a sense of control during a challenging time.
