Colorectal Cancer with Metastasis and Life-Saving Treatment Guidance

PHM improved outcomes with a highly personalized, cutting-edge approach to advanced cancer.

Presentation

After a 52-year-old man’s colorectal cancer spread, he was initially treated for localized disease with surgical resection and chemotherapy. When he later developed metastatic disease, he contacted Private Health Management for help creating a comprehensive treatment plan to treat his disease.

PHM IMPACT

His PHM Personal Care Team guided him on restarting chemotherapy, the best evidence-based treatment for his condition, while they began researching other options. While undergoing treatment, he experienced severe digestive side effects, leading his Personal Care Team to consult a precision medicine expert. The result was an off-label drug combination, but the side effects and symptoms persisted.

Specialized and Powerful Treatment

Given his disease burden, his Personal Care Team supported a complex surgery with heated chemotherapy. When follow-up scans showed possible remaining cancer, the team reached out to a top Nuclear Medicine expert in Germany to explore a new treatment: FAP peptide-targeted radioligand therapy, which delivers radiation directly to cancer cells.

Specialized imaging confirmed that cancer had spread to his lymph nodes, liver, and spleen. He began FAP-Y90 therapy, which helped ease his hip pain and improved his movement. Another follow-up scan showed a strong response, so he continued with a more powerful combination of FAP therapy.

Outcome

The client’s PHM Personal Care Team is now working to arrange targeted radiation to eliminate the only two remaining cancer spots. This new FAP peptide treatment provided hope for a heavily pre-treated patient who struggled with standard therapies. The client credits his PHM Personal Care Team with saving his life after they caught an abnormal kidney lab result, preventing a potentially fatal obstruction.
